Found in a Notebook from 2007

My Safety Net?

Will you come and find me when I can't choose?
Will you wait for me to trust you?
Will you be patient with me
and understanding of my fears?
Will you carry me when I'm too tired to crawl?
Will you simply hold my hand?

Sometimes
All I need is a hug.
Sometimes
All I want is a smile.
Sometimes
I need your shoulder
to support all my burdens.
Sometimes
I need to feel that
being me is enough.

Will you be my shoulder?
Will you support all my dreams
and banish my nightmares?
Will you let me hide behind you?
Will you push me to shine?
Will you be my champion
when I can't fight anymore?

It's hard to trust my soul to anyone but me.
But I'm willing to let you see
the wounded side,
the bruises that don't show,
the ghosts that haunt my eyes.
You may see them if your strong enough
to be my friend and lover.

Then, if you stay, and never run away,
you will get to share my laughter,
the joy that comes
as we dance to the music
of the rain and the thunder.
Are you brave enough,
daring enough,
to share in the wonder?

Will you be my shoulder?
Will you support my dreams
and banish my nightmares?
Will you love me without conditions?
Will you let me love you in return?
Will you help me make dragonfly wings
and encourage me to fly?
Will you be my safety net
when life crashes into me
and I free fall back to earth?

I don't remember writing this, but I remember the reason it got written.

I was looking for something else, that I can't find, because the lyrics of Just Breathe by Pearl Jam struck a chord. "Did I say that I need you?/Did I say that I want you?/Oh, if I didn't I'm a fool, you see...No one knows this more than me,/As I come clean." I also wrote on the same page of the notebook: "Sometimes affection is a shy flower that takes time to blossom." Most of my poetry got written prior to January 2005 and I have had a block since then. Oh well, maybe more stuff will come out in the future....if I can find my scribble pad notebook. It is M.I.A. and that makes me a tad bit nervous.
