Boredom Inspires Life Goals

I have been sick with a flu bug for the past few days. I detest being sick. I feel like it is an insult to life to spend time in bed when one could be at work or playing outside or anything else. (Side note: It is enjoyable to spend time in bed when it is one's choice--as in reading a particularly good book or enjoying a nap or the coveted, illusive *double-nap.) It is also insulting to the stomach and taste buds to worship the porcelain toilet god after a particularly tasty meal.

It is also extremely boring to be sick for more than a day. I can't stand it. So. I surf the Internet, look for and apply to new jobs, and talk to my sister--who should be made a saint for talking to me long-distance when I am sick because I get whiny. I also call Brothers Number 1, 3, & 4 to tell them I am sick so as to get sympathy points. Fun for me, entertaining for them. They think when I am sick and whiny, I am hill-air-ee-us!

Today, I watched the movie "The Ghost and The Darkness." Now I have another place to add to my list of places to visit before I fall off the life wagon: The Field Museum in Chicago. I already wanted to go to Kenya and other places in Africa. I also have another book to add to my list and learned that in some parts of Africa male lions are mane-less.

I have also realized that becoming a nun is not a career option open to me....unless I converted to Catholicism. Which I won't. But I thought about it for, oh, 30 minutes. I also thought about building bridges as a career. Even did some research online. But decided that would take too long in school should I change my major to Civil Engineering at this late date. I want to be finished soonest, dang it.

Then, I watched some "Arrested Development: Season 3."

*When one gets to take two naps in one day. You might have had to be there for the incidents that inspired the conversation that led to the naming and defining of this illusive, much coveted event. Just so you know, some people look, um, interesting when they fall asleep in the car on the way to a museum. Jicama, anyone? hahaha
