There have been a few times in my life when I have felt that someone who didn't know me or my circumstances was inspired to speak to me. This talk was one of many answers to my prayers in the past few weeks. How wonderful it is to realize that Heavenly Father is aware of me and my needs!
My favorite scripture is quoted at the beginning of this talk.
Alma 29:3--"But behold, I am a man, and do sin in my wish; for I ought to be content with the things which the Lord hath allotted unto me."
As President Eyring continued, I discovered what may be my second favorite scripture:
Alma 29:8--"For behold, the Lord doth grant unto all nations, of their own nation and tongue, to teach his word, yea, in wisdom, all that he seeth fit that they should have; therefore we see that the Lord doth counsel in wisdom, according to that which is just and true." (emphasis added by me)
I told a friend recently that it is possible that Heavenly Father is blessing us with things we need but we are too fixated on what He is not giving us to see those blessings. I commented that I felt that this causes our Father grief. I should have been talking to myself. I love General Conference and the ability I am given every six months to re-evaluate my life, my priorities, and adopt new goals according to the teachings of a living Prophet of God . What a marvelous age we live in!
