Honya Take 2

For all of you dying to know whether or not I got my answers, here are the facts.

The bookstore, or honya in Japanese, is called Junkudo. It is 10 stories tall. Contains over 1.5 million volumes of text, including a surprisingly extensive section with books in English. We have not been able to determine where it ranks on the list of World's Largest Bookstores, but have decided that the rumors of a larger bookstore in China may prove to be false.

Feel free to comment about your own experiences in Bookstore Nirvanas around the world. I have discovered that I have at least 3 international readers and that makes me happy. :-)
Since bookstores may become a determining factor in my future travel plans, I would love to hear about any and all unique bookstores throughout the world.

  1. I don't have very many great bookstore Nirvana storied - when I lived in Japan, I frequented one in the biggest town near where I lived. I think they had 12 English selections. Incidentally, that's where I bought my Harry Potter #6.

But, the greatest thing I went to in japan was the Apple store in Ginza - three stories of Apple products. I suppose there's one in Houston so maybe it's not such a big deal, but at the time, it was easily one of the greatest moments of my life.
