I'm tired of being single.
"Why?" you politely ask.
Because people who aren't single think that you can't possibly be happy or content in life unless you are married. I get asked all kinds of questions by random strangers who don't need to know the answers. News flash: the answers are none of your business. Did it ever occur to anyone that I actually like being single? I don't have to share my queen-sized bed with anyone. The money is ALL mine. If I want to go somewhere, I can. It's got its perks.
This past year I have made myself attend every Young Single Adult activity that has been offered in the greater Houston area. It was a personal stretch. Those who know me really well know that I prefer small groups of people enjoying good conversation, good food, and possibly jumping in the car on a whim and hiking something just to see the moon rise. I can be a people person, but detest large groups. And it takes me awhile to warm up to new people. (If you're willing to play Trivial Pursuit, you could be my new best friend.)
This first article on Wired.com cracked me up! Mostly because a friend has convinced me to try an online dating site just to see. (I think I've seen enough.) The second one has more to do with my personality. I've gotten asked to climb a mountain on 30 minutes notice but have never been asked out to dinner and a movie. Apparently, I'm always seen as just "one of the guys."
