Wild Aspirations

IF, by some miracle, I were to ever meet a man who inspired me to think of dating, marriage, weddings, and (gasp!) nerd-babies, I might have a severely uncharacteristic girly reaction and actually consider buying a wedding dress. But only, ONLY!, if I could afford one by this designer, Martin McCrea. The majority of his dresses have sleeves and don't look like they were just tacked on as an afterthought to the design. But I would definitely look for one on the cheap because I could never spend more than $150 on a dress I'm only going to wear once, even if the dress did make me feel like a fairy-tale princess for a day. I think the Daphne, EstelleMarcela, or Emma dresses could make me feel a bit like a princess.

And while we're on the subject....

Should anyone want to buy me a wedding ring, I like this style,

Promise Ring, Jared, The Galleria of Jewelry

But, as this is a wild, uncharacteristic, sleepy, hormone-inspired, everyone-but-me-gets-to-have-a-significant-other-and-get-engaged/married post, I will most likely try not to speak of this ever again. I have educational goals, dreams of becoming an RN and, eventually, a Ph.D. Those plans would only be interrupted by a courageous man willing to work to knock down the concrete, razor-wire topped walls that have recently been reinforced by painful circumstances. Or if a really patient, intelligent, attractive-to-me male caught me in a weak moment when I'm tired of the rat-race and wouldn't mind being bare-foot and pregnant as long as I didn't have to cook breakfast, balance the checkbook, or wear a bra.

I need a better sleep schedule.....or someone to wake up when I can't sleep more than 3 hours in a night.

  1. well, maybe you would wear the dress twice. most of the sleeves on those dresses are sheer - not really what you want if modesty is the issue. if i could go back and do my wedding over, i wouldn't buy my dress at all. i'd rent it.

  2. I can always line things and then dye it later to wear again. But I always figured I'd just buy a pretty dress in buttery yellow or saffron-bronze that I'd wear again to the symphony or something.
