I have had them since 29/30 October. Thought the original fever was due to ovulation; it was not. The doctor at the free clinic (because I still don't have health insurance or benefits of any kind at work which has led me to send out resumes this week) said it was just a virus and would most likely keep me down 7-10 days. It is now going on 10 days and my whole body hurts from the lack of physical exercise. I'm used to walking an average of 15 miles a day and I can feel my muscles atrophy from lack of use. As in, my knees scream in pain any time I extend my legs. I have a whole new level of compassion for people who have contractures.
I thought I was doing better yesterday and went down the stairs to the laundry area to do 2 loads. Apparently that was a mistake as I woke up today with a fever of 101. I had mono in high school when I was 17 and don't remember it feeling this bad. But they do say memory is the second thing to go....
I have a whole new sympathy for my parents. Getting older really sucks! Your body just doesn't do what you want it to.
I would also like to point out that I was forced by my employer on pain of termination for being non-compliant to receive the flu vaccine. I let them shoot that goo into my arm in August ergo wasn't I supposed to NOT get sick???? I have never had a flu shot before in life and thought you weren't supposed to get sick after you have had one. Guess they picked the wrong strain this year.
I can't help you with your illness (not that it matters anyway since I bet you're better by now) BUT
ReplyDeleteThe flu shot is only 80% effective against maybe 1 or 2 strains of the flu. You can still catch the very virus they are vaccinating against.
