BR Fridays

I don't really have a book to review but I wanted to tell you about something really cool. I should be sleeping but as I was drifting off the thought popped up that I NEEDED to write this or I would forget.

There is this fantastic thing that exists in the Houston area called The Houston Area Digital Catalog.  If you have a library card from one of the participating libraries you can check out audiobooks and ebooks via Kindle or epub or .wma. It is the best thing I have ever discovered. Now when I finish a book and need something else to read, I go online and check to see what's available. You can place holds, request books, etc. C'est très fantastique!!

If you're not in the Houston area, I would highly recommend looking to see if your local library has their own Digital Catalog. (Houston uses Media Overdrive and they might have info on their site.) If you don't have it in your area it would be worth it to talk to your local library to see about implementing it.

I am loving the fact that if I wake up in the middle of the night and can't find anything to read in my own personal library I can get online and find something to read on my computer's Kindle app. It saves me gas, too. Actually going to the library, smelling the books, and turning pages will always be my first choice but this is a good second.

Go forth and discover the opportunities available or not.

Happy Reading!

  3. Oh! And if you don't want to download the app and you use Google Chrome, there's a Kindle Cloud Reader App. Look it up in the App Store.
