Darkness exists but light does also. Choose to hope that life can be better. The Spirit of Jesus Christ can illuminate our lives but we must act in faith to open our eyes to that light.
How do we open our eyes?
Start Where You Are
Turn your heart toward the Lord
Walk in the light
“I am the light of the world. He that followeth me shall not walk in darkness but shall have the light of life.” (John 8:12)
Open your heart to Him. Seek him through study and prayer. Come to church.
Even after the darkest night the Savior of the world will lead you towards a gradual, glorious morning.

Teach children it is okay to be a child. It is okay to stretch, dream, try, etc. Everyone has the power to increase a child’s confidence in their ability to do and in their faith to know that they are children of a loving Heavenly Father. Use voices of mildness when speaking to them. May the words we speak and write to our children reflect the love of our Father in Heaven.

D&C 1:39--And the truth abideth forever and ever.
“Truth the sum of existence shall weather the worst, eternal, unchanged, evermore.”
“He that keepeth God’s commandments shall receive a fullness of light and shall have knowledge of all things.”
Burning a circle in the field of June grass even though forbidden to use matches. 8 year old Pres Monson thought the fire would magically extinguish itself after burning the circle they wanted. They lit the dry grass.
There are rules and laws to help assure our physical safety. Likewise, the Lord has commandments to assure our spiritual safety. To obey is better than sacrifice. Obedience is essential to salvation. “The happiness of…, the peace of…, the prosperity of ... this people lie in walking in obedience.” ~Gordon B. Hinckley
Obedience is the test of mortality.
