Rained Out

9-11-2011: I went to Yosemite to hike Vernal Falls with 2 of my brothers and my mom. We entered the park and everything was beautiful. We walked to the base of Bridal Veil Falls and then got in the car to drive to Curry Village. As soon as we got to Curry Village to park the car so we could take the shuttle to the trailhead, the heavens opened and buckets of water were dumped on the ground. I was in heaven! It hasn't rained in Texas for a long time. I was ready to hike up to the Falls and have a marvelous time. My brothers pointed out that we had no rain gear but if we did have rain gear they would have gladly hiked. I was out-voted and we drove the loop with the rest of the fleeing masses.

If anyone is interested in going to Yosemite to hike Half Dome, Cloud's Rest, and any other wonderful things to see in one of the most beautiful places on earth, let me know. I'm planning on going August 2012 and would enjoy some company.

Yosemite Valley
You can see the storm that blew in. The clouds were descending and by the time we left the park the only mountain you could see was El Capitan.

Brother #4 and me
He leaves in October to serve a mission in Mexico.
Last time I'll see him for two years.

Brothers #2 & #4, Me, Mom
It didn't seem that overcast when the day started.

Bridal Veil Falls

On the way out of the park. The photo's not grainy--those are raindrops.

The Merced River
One of the funnest rivers to kayak or canoe when the water level is  high.

El Capitan

El Capitan
I'm not sure why this picture is angled funny--but it looks neat.

  1. I can't remember if I've shown you this picture before or not, but if I haven't...

This is Yosemite falls. The picture is not doctored, it actually looks like that. It only happens a couple of days a year in February and then only for about 10 minutes. But the sun shines on it just right, and... gorgeous! I didn't see it. Cameron took the picture.
