SMN: “Hark! All Ye Nations”

Pres. Boyd K Packer

Snakes in the ivy killing nestlings in the nests.
“If ye are prepared, ye need not fear.”
Faith is a real power not just an expression of belief. There is REAL power in the prayers of a righteous mother. Agency in the scriptures is defined as moral agency: we are given the power to choose between right and wrong, good and evil.

We must remember there is a difference between the sin and the sinner. Be careful of the tolerance trap. All are born with the light of Christ, the ability to recognize the difference between right and wrong. What we choose with that ability is up to us. The Lord has a way of pouring pure intelligence into our minds to teach us, to warn us, to offer guidance instantaneously.

Dean M. Davies, 2nd Counselor Presiding Bishopric

Story of being in his car on Marketplace during earthquake in San Francisco. Areas of loose soil didn’t hold up the buildings erected on them. We must build upon a sure foundation--the foundation of Jesus Christ. Provide appropriate balance in our lives: daily prayers & reading of the scriptures, weekly Sacrament participation, partaking of Priesthood ordinances by attending the temple, et al. Prayer is the avenue to follow to seek counsel from the Lord.

Elaine S. Dalton, General YW President

We are daughters of an exalted being. “Whate’er thou art act well thy part.” We are known by a loving Heavenly Father who is aware of us and has a plan for each of us. We matter! “I the Lord am bound when ye do what I say, but when ye do not what I say ye have no promise.” (D&C 82:10) Return to virtue. If all humanity really understood the statement “We are daughters of our Heavenly Father” would women be treated differently? Underneath the carpet at the pulpit is written “Stand as a witness in all times and in all things and in all places.” (Mosiah 18:9)

IH: “Let Us All Press On”

Elder Craig A Cardon, 70

The Savior forgives us when we obey His gospel. Sins are forgiven throughout life not just at the Judgement Bar. The Lord knows our weaknesses and offers us a way to overcome the temptations of the world. No one need suppose that forgiveness comes without repentance. “He who sins against the greater light shall receive the greater condemnation.” (D&C 82:3)

Show confidence in the individual not judgement in the temporary setback that is keeping them from being their best self. See the potential for greatness not the momentary weakness.

Elder M. Russell Ballard

Hubble telescope show us the vastness of space. Our Milky Way galaxy.
“We can only tap the powers of Heaven based on the principles of personal righteousness.” Men have the power to administer the Priesthood but they are NOT the Priesthood. Men and women have separate but equal roles. Men need women to access the powers of creation and women need men to access the powers of the Priesthood. Procreative and Priesthood powers are shared by husband and wife. “The power of the Priesthood is use to succor the weak, lift up the hands that hang down, and strengthening the feeble knees.” (81:5)

Tomato plant comes from one tiny tomato seed. Millions of tomatoes can come from one seed. But it needs water and light to grow. As the literal spirit children of our Heavenly Father we have unlimited divine potential. But, if we are not careful, we can become weakened by unintentional neglect like the tomato plant left in the dark room without water.

“If any man thirst let him come unto me and drink.” (John 7:37)

SMN: “Faith”

Henry B. Eyring, 1st Counselor 1st Presidency

“Draw near unto me, and I will draw near unto you.” (D&C 88:65)
“…eternally encircled in the arms of his love.” (2 Nephi 1:15)
Keep his commandments that he may pour out his blessings more abundantly upon you. Reach out your arms to those who are in need of your service and the Lord will draw closer to you. “Abide a little longer, the evening approaches.”
