Deep inside each of us is a need to have a refuge, a place to regroup and recharge away from the world. The ideal place for that refuge is within the walls of our own homes where we strive to make Jesus Christ the centerpiece. Regardless of your circumstances you can center your home and life on the Lord Jesus Christ. It is important for parents to make each child aware of how their actions affect each individual in the family and be held accountable.
Simple, consistent good habits lead to significant large blessings. Stay on the Lord’s side and you will win every time. If you referred to the scriptures as often as you send text messages you would soon have hundreds of scriptures memorized. Selfishness is the root of all evil. Focus your life outward in service to other people. When we obey the commandments of the Lord and serve his children the natural consequence is power from the Lord. His power is a fundamental component to a home filled with peace. As you focus your life on the Savior, your home will naturally become a refuge. Friends will naturally be drawn to your home.
*Establish a Christ-centered home.
Do all you can to have such a home. Reach out to those in adverse circumstances. Be a true friend. Friendship should not be used as a resource to gain personal advantage but as a gem to be treasured. Recognize the good in others not their stains. Always build on his or her virtues. Strive to live worthily and put your trust in the Lord.
Elder Quentin L. Cook
The role of peace. How do we acquire lasting internal peace? There is a difference between world peace and internal peace. We can have peace in the home in the midst of wolves outside. (Peace = internal abiding true happiness) The Savior’s peace can blot out our hate and soften our hearts towards forgiveness. “Thine adversity and afflictions shall be but for a small moment and, if thou endure it well, God shall exalt thee on high.”
Peace is found by praying always, obedience, being humble, repenting daily, and seeking to serve others. The Savior is the source of true peace. Righteous living will be rewarded with true peace. “Peace I leave unto you, my peace I give unto you, not as the world giveth.”
IH: “Rejoice! The Lord is King!”
Stanley G. Ellis, 70
To do what is needed or what ought to be done when it should be done v. what you want to do when you want to do it. We are not spiritual orphans, we are not alone. We don’t have to be lost, confused, or less effected. We have spiritual parents who are there to lead and guide if we but look to them for that leadership and guidance. We are not left without parents.
John B. Dickson, 70
Growth and establishment of the gospel moves according to the timetable of the Lord. Have a great deal of what matters most and very little of what matters least.
Elder David A Bednar
Why is the law of chastity so important?
Our physical bodies make a breadth and a depth of experience possible that our spiritual bodies simply could not. There are lessons we must learn and experiences we must have “according to the flesh.” “It isn’t good to be alone.” (Genesis)
Marriage between a man and woman is the authorized way spiritual bodies receive physical bodies.
“The spirit indeed is willing but the flesh is weak.” Will I put off the natural man or will I become an enemy to God? “Bridle all your passions so that you may be filled with love.”
“I can think of no blessing to be fervently desired than those rewarded to the pure and virtuous.” (Marion G. Romney)
guilt : spiritual wounds :: pain : physical wounds
Chastity and virtue are now and always have been most precious above all other things.
Elder Russell M. Nelson
