After talking to a few friends, I went to see my GP this morning. She put me on an anti-anxiety med and a stronger anti-depressent. Then she said the most beautiful thing: "I don't want you to go back to work for 3 weeks." She even wrote me a note saying that I need to be excused until 8 August. It was kinda fabulous. I let my boss know, emailed him the note, and all I have to do is make sure I'm cleared for duty again with Occupational Health before I start my regular shifts.
I left the doctor's office and was able to get an auto and renter's insurance policy with Geico for a lot less than I was paying before my policies were cancelled when I was unemployed. I ordered a security system for the apartment and it should be installed the end of the week. I feel a measure of relief even though the anxiety was spiked by an announcement that there had been 4 more burglaries in the past 2 weeks. I had to call my mom and ask her for help but she was completely understanding and made me go to the doctor first thing this morning. It was a huge help.
Now I need to re-schedule an appointment I had to cancel last week with the counselor and go meet with the financial assistance division of the Employee Assistance Program. Fingers crossed they can make an exception in the minimum 12 months employment rule for extenuating circumstances. I just need help with my rent, electricity, and internet/phone bill so fingers crossed on that one.
And I'm breathing.
Good! I'm glad you're getting the help you need. :)
