Disorganized

My house is a mess. Certain things became less of a priority lately and the result is clutter. In the past I have been very good at staying on top of things so my space is always neat and orderly. Not so much now. I had 4 days off this weekend and instead of cleaning I napped and pampered my knee. (I blame the road rash and not a newly-developed habit of procrastination.)

Sarra had mentioned on her blog that she had looked at flylady.net to see if it could help her not hate/loathe/detest/want to burn the house down when it came time to clean up the house. I personally can attest to her housework detestation as I made her clean once. So I checked out the FlyLady. I have zero desire to shine my sink so I'm skipping that step.

The second step is getting dressed every morning to the shoes, face, and hair. I don't do shoes except at work and for exercise but the face and hair is an issue. I don't think I have ever worn makeup to work and so that will be the hard part of this personal journey.

Now I just need to set the time for 15 minutes at a time and clean something....tomorrow.  Right now Season 3 of "Doctor Who" is my reward for getting some homework done today and debriding my knee every time I take a shower.

  1. I don't have to tell you but I will, the sink is the worst thing for me too. If you had zero desire to shine your sink, I had less than zero desire. But I did it. It took me all friggin' day, but I got my sink all nice and cleaned up (it's white porcelain so it doesn't actually shine) and I tell you what - it made a HUGE difference to me.
I don't wear shoes much, and I don't wear makeup much either. I think her point is to do your full routine every day. She did actually talk about why the shoes were important, but the makeup thing isn't. She just wants you to go through the effort of making yourself feel good about your appearance.
My progress: I've been at this a week (and a half) and I can tell you that I now have this foreign feeling of discontent when I see dirty dishes in the sink, or when it isn't all rinsed out. This may be the other side of the leaf I have tried so often to turn over. :)

    1. Well.....If you are actually feeling irked over a dirty kitchen sink I will have to do it on Thursday. I have a stainless steel sink but don't have any SOS pads.

The makeup thing is kinda big for me. I stopped getting dressed except to leave the house a while ago and really need to be better at work at fixing my hair and makeup so I look at least more professional and put together. We recently took new ID badge pictures and mine is....not good. Every time I see it I want to "accidentally" damage it so I have to take a new picture.
