Last weekend I ran away from home instead of cleaning my house. I left dirty dishes in the sink, trash in the bin, the carpet un-vacuumed, etc. I had a hard day at work that saw me leaving the hospital in tears and I woke up Saturday morning the same way. Brother #1 and SIL A recently moved within 300 miles of me so I called him, asked if they were busy, and drove away from home with a basket of dirty laundry and didn't look back.
It was a great decision even though someone backed into my parked car within an hour of my arrival. I got to play with my nephews, eat home-cooked food I didn't have to make, and have some sister-time shopping for sheets and going to see "Thor: The Dark World." It was fantastic and much-needed. I am so grateful they have moved closer than a 36+ hour drive from me now.
Unfortunately, I now have descended into mild home chaos again. The trash still needs to be taken out; the dishes need to be washed, and I need to vacuum. I also have Psych and Archaeology homework to attend to and I am not feeling particularly studious at the moment. Once the trash and kitchen are clean the homework can be focused on once again. Here comes the big plunge before the end of the semester in less than a month. I can do it!!! ....after I take a nap.
You can do it, Em! I haven't kept my sink shiny, but I'm slowly getting things accomplished around the rest of the house. Sometimes it wears me out just thinking about what needs to be done, but one task at a time ... :)
