Supraventricular Tachychardia

My wonderful sister was diagnosed with a heart condition this time last year. At 18 years of age she was put on beta blockers and told to take it easy. Supraventricular Tachycardia causes your heart to race for no reason. While she was being monitored for a month she would get phone calls from the heart monitoring company in Houston asking her what she was doing and suggesting that she stop it. 99% of the time she was simply sitting on the couch or laying in bed watching TV. Severe and worsening chest pain is the only reason she went in to see the doctor. Your heart should NOT beat 170+ times in a minute while you are sitting on the couch in your pajamas watching TV.

The American Heart Association's Heart Walk is happening in Houston this weekend. The money raised goes to fund research to prevent and treat conditions like my sister's. I work with Acute Heart Failure patients and dread the thought of my sister ever going through what my patients have gone through and continue to go through. Please consider making a donation on the link to the left. $5-10 might be what you would spend on lunch. It's not a whole lot but it makes a difference.
