I find this to be an interesting story because I have been called a smart-ass my whole life. After reading this, I think that being called a smart-ass might be one of the greatest compliments someone can pay you. I mean, who wouldn't want to be compared to the ass who was intelligent enough to get out of the way of an angry angel of God with a drawn sword? So the next time someone calls you a smart-ass, simply smile and thank them. After all, the world needs more smart-asses--we keep life interesting because you never know what's going to come out of our brains through the medium of vocalization. It just might be something you need to hear to better your life.
"When you're lovers in a dangerous time, sometimes you're made to feel as if your love's a crime. Nothing worth having comes without some kind of fight. Gotta kick at the darkness 'til it bleeds daylight." ~Bruce Cockburn

Why, Thank You!
Recently I had the privilege of attending a Sunday School lesson where we talked about Balaam in Numbers. He was a fascinating guy who made some interesting decisions. He rides off on his donkey, called an ass in the Bible, and heads to Moab with these guys. On their journey, the ass sees an angel of the Lord standing in the middle of the road with a drawn sword. The ass is no dummy and walks into a field on the side of the road. Balaam kicks the ass and turns it back onto the road. This scenario happens 2 more times and finally the LORD allows the ass to speak to Balaam and tell him why she keeps stopping--she doesn't want to be killed by the angel. (Um, no joke, Sherlock!)
