I went back to school on Monday!! (and the people rejoice: "Yeah!")
The oddest thing is that I traded 10 hours of work M-F for 10 hours of class M-F and feel like I have more time than I did last week. I think it has to do with the fact that after I got out of class Monday, I didn't have to go to class or work until Wednesday. I had almost 48 hours off....on purpose! It was amazing! I work 35-45 hours a week now instead of my usual 45-60 with 2 days off every 14 days. I can't tell you how I feel like I am being a bit lazy with all this time. My kitchen is finally clean, I baked a loaf of bread, and made meatloaf. I even got most of my bathroom clean and plan to vacuum later. This schedule rocks!
My classes are pretty nice. But I can honestly say that I think I am the oldest student in my classes. It's very different going to school when you are almost 10 years older than the other students. They seem like babies. On the super-plus side, I think I took a similar class to one I am taking now about 12 years ago at BYU. So I'm pretty sure A's are in my future.
This is one of my favorite times of year. The smell of textbooks, finding a $250 textbook for $45, the pens scratching on papers as people take notes, and the new smell of formaldehyde. Ahhh....I love going to school and learning stuff. I almost feel like a normal human being again. And yesterday, I read an article on forgiveness in the September 2011 issue of The Ensign. I highly recommend it. It was exactly what I have been needing in the past 3 months. (The rest of the issue is on marriage. I am wedding-ed out. I have had a wedding reception every other weekend since the beginning of July. I'm sick of wedding/marriage stuff.)
Good luck to all of us who are learning new things this academic year.
